Union 1.0 and self-hosting?

Added by Duncan Hall 971 days ago

Is there any word on when the 1.0 release will go live? I've been having fun with try tryunion.com and have a potential client project coming up, but would need to know the platform will be up and running fully before starting any development.

Also, are there any plans to allow for self-hosting as appose to Media Temple?

Thanks.

we can't commit to a 1.0 release date yet, but depending on your situation, you could theoretically already use the Alpha in a production environment. We use it ourselves in our MegaPhone work (see www.playmegaphone.com). if you can describe what you are trying to build and where you intend to deploy it, we can help you decide whether a pre-release version would be right for you.

as for self-hosting: you will definitely be able to run Union Server yourself wherever you like. the MediaTemple partnership is simply there to help less server-savvy folks get started (and to help those who would rather not spend time on server set up and administration).

Thanks, I was lucky enough to play along with the Megaphone example at your FITC session. The project I have in mind is a relatively simple one, so I would imagine then that the Alpha release would certainly be sufficient. Do you have an email address I could use to throw some more specific questions at you?

Cheers.
